No events included appear to require an entry fee EXCEPT the private ATUGE-hosted conference on Thursday where Tunisia’s Central Bank Governor will be speaking. Some events are announced during the week and so may not be included at the time the events calendar is published.
Tuesday, August 20:
7:00 to 13:00 – Campaign calling on citizens to clean up a public park in the Hay al Wahhat neighborhood of Tunisia, organized by the group “Clean Tunisia.” Exact location has not been specified by the organizers in their public Facebook announcement.
9:30 – The Ministry of Equipment is holding a “media day” to announce a road maintenance program. Location: Hotel Mechtel Golden Tulip
18:00 – Lecture on Tunisia’s energy sector by former Minister of Energy Kamel Bennaceur, currently CEO of Nomadia Energy. Event is hosted by Wall Street English. Location: Wall Street English, Rue Lac Lochness, Immeuble Néo, les berges du lac 1.
Thursday, August 22:
17:00 – Book presentation by author Hassouna Mosbahi. Location: Al Kitab bookshop, Habib Bourguiba Avenue.
18:00 – Discussion on social entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. Registration requested in advance at following link. Location: Cogite Coworking Space, Lac 1.
18:30 – Tunisia’s Central Bank Governor Marouene Abassi, Tunisia’s former Economy and Finance Minister Hakim Ben Hammouda and two other international bank directors are speaking at a private conference on the topic of “Determination of Monetary and Budgetary Policy and Financial Stability in Tunisia. The event is hosted by ATUGE (Association Tunisiens des Grandes Écoles). Location: Concorde Hotel Le Paris, Lac. ENTRY FEE of 50 Dinars (TND) required. Registration available at this link. The event had previously been scheduled for Thursday, June 27.
Friday, August 23:
14:00 – Screening of the film “The ‘If’ Project” hosted by the US Embassy on the topic of prisons and the relationship between cops and convicts. The film screening is to be followed by a presentation and discussion moderated by a “Senior Corrections Advisor at the U.S. Embassy” (“corrections” is the term used by US officials to refer to prisons and prison-related policing). Registration is required in advance, by August 21 at the following link.
16:30 – A “tutorial for citizens” on the topic of “how to evaluate a political party” is being held. The Facebook event is in French and does not indicate what language the event will be held in. A nearly identical event had been scheduled in the same location and hosted by the same group on Friday July 26, led by Sami Bahri, whose biography describes him as the advisor to the “president of the National Constituent Assembly [the temporary legislative authority that governed Tunisia from 2011 to 2014]” and secretary general of the dimo:qratiyoun association.
